Need a break from the straight-and-unbreakable rules of standard chess? Keep getting thumped by the
chess geek you used to call your friend? Strike back with Chaos Chess Cards, a set of 80 wickedly funny cards that
bring the old classic to new levels of excitement.
Each card breaks at least one fundamental rule of chess, creating a game that is ever changing - even chaotic. But don't be
fooled! The cards are fickle, and when they ultimately fail you, you will need to call upon all your chess knowledge and
strategy in order to come out the victor. Unique art on each card!
For example, at the start of your turn you might play the card Iron Steed, transforming the movement of your lowly pawn into a knight.
Now you might use it to:
(a) make a surprise attack on your opponent, capturing a piece
(b) move to block an attack on your king
(c) flee a bad situation
(d) if you can move your pawn to the last rank, promote it to a queen at the end of your turn.
All these options with one little card!
By playing Dark Magic, you will shock your opponent when you suddenly remove 3 pawns from the board!
Chaos Chess Cards allow you to create fantastic new pieces, move pieces in unique ways, even make surprise attacks!
Depending on the cards drawn, you might play a card to freeze one of your opponent's key pieces while you swoop in for the kill.
You might play a card that brings your dead piece back to life. The options created by Chaos Chess Cards are virtually limitless!
So this is a card game? No! Chaos Chess Cards ENHANCE a game of chess, and are not the entire game.
Even though the cards create unique situations, you are still playing chess. As in chess, you win only by creating a legal checkmate,
and each player must move a piece on their turn as they would in a standard game. Also, you cannot always play the perfect card when
you need it most, so a strategy built completely around playing cards will ultimately fail you. And remember, when you play a card the
results can be wondrous, but your opponent can play cards too. That means you'll have to keep on your toes, expect the unexpected, and
draw upon all your chess knowledge to outmaneuver your enemy and capture his King - before he captures yours!
What do I need to play? You'll need to order Chaos Chess Cards by Hammerdog Games (below). It contains everything you need to
play including 80 high quality game cards, 8 Imajewel Time Counters, cardstock counters to track the effects of Chaos Chess cards, and
a paper chessboard with pieces. Play is enhanced if you provide your own chessboard, of standard size or larger. Oh, you'll also need
to know how to play chess!
So I don't need the Chaos Chessboard to play? No! You can use ANY chessboard, whether it be square, rectangular, round, triangular,
or 3-D. That said the Chaos Chessboard has been specifically designed to play with Chaos Chess Cards - but it has also been designed
to play a lot of other chess games.
